This one's especially the Meg-meister

Megan, I think you would have really enjoyed being mobbed by chipmunks so I am devoting this visual tour of the rodent hysteria to you and only you. (I think Piper may have become the first dog to cry of happiness if she were there to molest the furry ones.)

May George Washington rest in peace wherever he may be.

But With You....

But with you the wind blows around us like we are the only things that exist. With you I run out of irony. I run out of drivel and pity. I run. I just run. That's what we do together. Run and run. I can't feel sorry for myself anymore, I can't waste away. Not even if I wanted to, you just changed that about me. It's because you are with me now. Then it was different. I wanted to trust. Now..it doesn't matter, I just do. I have to. My hands are empty, I have no excuse. How can you mistrust a thing that takes away all of your excuses? Darn you, perfect thing, where is my complaining? Where is my safety? Now you are with me when I'm alone. You're with me when I'm far away. You're with me when I go back out of habit. You're there saying something to me, I don't know what but it doesn't matter, because I remember that I don't have to go back. Because you're with me in my head, telling me to start acting like it. Cielo is heaven, Cielo is sky, which of these are we to eachother? I don't know, they both sound about right.

Things Fall Apart

Let me ask you something,. Do you worry about the great contraversey? Like, good vs. evil warring invisibly all around you? We both know it's real and we both have had our moments of soberness where something happened that let us see. The thing is that I worry about the fact that those that are invisible and evil are very smart individuals. Much, much smarter than me. Am I unecessarily worried about being caught up in a drive-by supernatural incident? I don't think so, because I think I am somehow the object of contempt. The singular cause for all of the fighting. The thing that is being perverbially discussed, that is me. I know that. It's not that I'm egocentric, although, wow that has got to be about the most hugely egocentric position-the entire universe is fighting because of me. Yeah...but still, I believe that it is you and me that are born on a battlefield.

Battlefield..
blood
shooting
abandonment
surreal
slowmotion

So my amplification of worry today is that I have blindly gallavanted into this amazingly adorable person that I actually love, well more like adore, I have absolutely no reason to be afraid of anything because of this beautiful creature that is somehow mine right now. or rather, is in my care right now. So the point I am trying to make is that I am happy. I am happy and I am afraid of the horrible scheme being contrived somewhere in the darkness about how to make the flood of greatfulness that consumes me turn into disappointment and resignation. I am afraid. The more I love my boyfriend, the more I am afraid of the awful plans. The more wonderful he is to me and the more I trust him, the more I want to believe it is not going to get poisoned. But I see poison everywhere. It really seems hopeless to me actually, I want a weapon to fight with.
Battlefield-
sword
war horses
barbed wire
smoke
silence

All I want is not to pray for protection in vain.

Not Worth $10.50

Yes, this is me participating in a highly nonsensical sport in fact. A sport that was created for all of those people who get excited about putting on their skis and walking from the lodge to the ski lift, or are rapturously delighted by putting on their skis and climbing partially up the ski hill to a chair lift above them, or even further, those who delight in strapping a non-directional saucer to their feet and heading down their favorite run, or perhaps a sports enthusiast who may specialize in an equally arbitrary combination of activity and it's respective equipment such as putting on a space suit to go swimming or rollerskates for a brisk hike.

To what am I referring? I do not enjoy cross-country skiing. I was a little surprised to find this out but I spent an afternoon this week exploring this realization. Let me just ask you, who would strap on a pair of skis and walk uphill? WHO??!!! Cross-country skiers is the answer to that otherwise rhetorical question. You'd think once the walking around and up and all over got you to the top of a hill and pointed you down, you'd be a fish who just got put back in the pond, but no, cross-country skis do not have edges, nor are you strapped in to them properly, so downhill skiing on these contraptions is like standing on two cafeteria trays and choosing whether it would hurt worse to do a face plant or a tailbone plant. I recommend the tailbone plant.

Cross-country skiing is not for me and I don't recommend it to you. The only thing that made it ok was that it was beautiful outside and mom and dad were there, otherwise, no good. If you must try cross-country skiing I would suggest choosing a destination to travel too, like a yurt or an alpine vista. This makes the sport appear less silly than the alternate approach of skiing around in circles in the woods for hours and then getting in the car and going home.

Fun with online translators

I've found a new internet pastime that makes me laugh heartily. It's really fun, you should try it. Just google an online language translator, type something in english and then translate it into another language. Then drag that translation back into the original translation box and translate it back into English. It comes up with some really funny stuff!

Translated twice comes to:
Megan is my companion of house. She wants to make this mixture of the salmon. She also makes the Popes red, squashed and good. I lose it because I have not seen it in almost a month. It seems long much more although! I want to return in house with her and so we can return to ours to astonish lives. Megan is a magnificent artist, Somebody that needs an impressive idea to decorate must again come to her, she is the best one of the best one!

mexican dog

There is nothing like spending an evening listening to people speak spanish while writing latin that isn't really latin, it's more like the english alphabet trying to pronounce latin. I am waiting for the day when I wake up and can spew spanish without a thought. I am hopeful of this because it sort of happened to me once. I was in a room where two people were speaking spanish for three hours. The next day I said things I didn't understand.

I hear lots of spanish everyday but frankly, my development is disappointing. Learning spanish, I just realized, is a major goal for me as is having a mexican dog. Mexican dogs are awesome, they're really roguish. I think when I own a roguish mexican dog, my life will be complete (not meaning a chihuaha by the way).

Megan Kirkland, who is a better woman than I, has a headache right now and for want of a spanish lullaby is her life made wretched.

Wading through yourself and losing your keys in the muck, then time runs out and you have to try again tomorrow. Who was it who got to decide how fast we all have to be at everything? It doesn't leave much room for meditatioin. Or even coffee with friends. Coffee with friends where noone has to leave early.

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

What do you think. I can't be all the things I'm supposed to be right now, so I have to choose. I can't be the perfect student and the perfect friend. Neither can I pursue a personal life as well as submerge myself completely in personal statement (instead of choosing one or the other I go back and forth and end up just twitching a lot). I know I can do the things I need to more quickly than I am and maybe even stay on top of everything but I'm struggling. Someone somewhere along hte line is going to suffer, probably my grade which unfortunately at this stage of the game means my portfolio and thus my life if I ever really go for the artist thing with all I've got. I'm ready to give it all I've got but then there are people, who I want to be there for.

Right now I'm sitting in the art studio, it's 11:42 PM and it's my lucky day, I am picking up a roving wireless network. I just got done working on a project that was sort of due already some time back there, I know I can do this thing though, if I can do anything, I can do the swamped artist thing.

This current project is going to be a fun one. I have constructed a life-size Apollo. Apollo and I are going to shoot some pictures in various suburban locations. The basic idea behind this springs from my vehement hatred of suburban living. Apollo will look really unfortunate standing there in front of Wal-Mart with the shopping cart, or going to McDonalds or participating in some other degrading activity having to do with commercialism or advertising.

Originally I was just going to make some drawings of this situation, but my professor was the one who suggested the life-size thing.

So the fact that I will have a giant naked greek god in my portfolio from now on, is something I can thank Maria for.

I think after Apollo and I have our fun, we will finish off our day by doing a little skateboarding.
